| Green HVAC / Green air conditioning - energy based on renewable natural source of cold
The solution is a seawater air conditioning system (SWAC). This system saves around 80% of cold energy compared to a conventional air conditioning system. It uses the temperature of the depths of the ocean to cool an air conditioning loop without impacting the environment. Pacific Beachcomber innovates hospitality in the Pacific with the deepest care for the environment, nature, the Polynesian culture and people. One of its innovation: Sea Water Air Conditioning (SWAC) launched in Bora Bora at the IHG, and Tetiaroa at The Brando resort. This system permits to save about 42% of energy comparing to a conventional AC system, on those 2 sites about USD $ 2M saving, with an average cost of USD $ 0.51 / KWh, representing a total of 4,000MWh. It uses the temperature of the deep ocean to cool an AC loop, releasing seawater back to the ocean with no impact. This solution sends a 2,6km piping into the ocean to reach a 930m deep area. The impact on the environment is very low and safe - It provides air conditioning using the cold of the deep ocean.
